Do you need assistance in mainstreaming gender and development (GAD) in cooperatives? You can now directly contact GAD trainers/experts across the Philippines to help you. Go to the “Gender and Development [GAD] in Co-ops Resource Pool (GCRP)” Directory available here in the website of the GERC Inc.

The GCRP Directory contains the list of “GCRP Fellows” who are GAD trainers/experts responsible in expanding GAD outreach to co-ops; and non-government organizations, government agencies, local government units, and other agencies that support GAD and co-op development. These co-ops and other agencies can communicate directly with the GCRP Fellows in this Directory for the services that they need in relation to GAD mainstreaming, such as, but not limited to, conduct of gender-sensitivity training (GST) and other gender sessions; and sustained technical assistance to co-ops for GAD mainstreaming.

Particularly, as trained GAD trainers for co-ops, the GCRP Fellows can assist co-ops in assessing the progress of their GAD mainstreaming using the “GAD Assessment Tool” for co-ops (the Tool as provided for in Cooperative Development Authority [CDA] Memorandum Circular No. 2017-04).

GCRP Fellows come from co-ops nationwide and had previously attended the trainers' training in the gender equality program and/or the trainers’ training on GAD (levels 1 and 2) that GERC Inc. conducts. Some of the GCRP Fellows are also involved in GERC Inc.’s programs on co-op youth and co-op women entrepreneurs.

Jose Vicente “Blue” C. Ventosa III – Region 11

Cooperative: Silangan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SMPC), Davao City

Blue infuses his co-op advocacy with his legal know-how, as this lawyer heads his law firm, the Ventosa Law Office. He can also provide legal counseling to cooperators. As a GAD trainer for co-ops, Blue can assist co-ops assess the progress of their GAD mainstreaming using the “GAD Assessment Tool” for co-ops. In training events, Blue can also handle topics on laws related to gender issues and GAD. Blue is a member of the GAD Committee of the National Confederation of Cooperatives (NATCCO); and is the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the VICTO National Cooperative Federation and Development Center (VICTO National).

Mercedes “Ched” D. Castillo – Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao

Ched is a former Administrator of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) and is one of the prime movers in the issuance of CDA Memorandum Circulars on GAD in Philippine co-ops. She has carried her long-time advocacy of GAD, co-op development, and social development through coordinative and leadership positions in various regional, national, and international organizations. Ched is a seasoned GAD consultant and trainer for co-ops, and a GAD role model for co-ops. Ched is also the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Philippine Family Farmers' Agriculture Fishery Forestry Cooperatives Federation (AgriCOOPh).

 

Gines D. Codilla – Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao

Gines has handled finance-related positions in different companies. In 2002, he started his local and international career as development consultant and trainer to assist co-ops, other development organizations, and development projects in enhancing and widening their operations. As a seasoned GAD consultant and trainer for co-ops, and a GAD role model for co-ops, Gines can assist co-ops in using the “GAD Assessment Tool” for co-ops, and in setting up and sustaining their business development centers; has developed the computerized “GAD Assessment Tool” that eases co-ops’ use of the Tool; and has developed a computerized profiling tool for co-op members that produces business-related information that co-ops can use in their business development services.

  

  

Salome “Sally” A. Ganibe – Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao

Sally has years of experience in managing international development programs and a regional organization in Southeast Asia that is focused on gender issues and concerns, gender equality, and women empowerment. She also has particular knowledge and skills in applying gender aspects on managing and implementing development projects; capacity-building; and monitoring and evaluation (M & E). Sally is well-versed in cooperative and community development work in Southeast Asia, including years of Philippine experience in mainstreaming gender and development (GAD) in policies, projects, and programs of community-based organizations through the development of GAD tools, capacity-building for GAD, and M & E with gender perspective in projects. Sally is a seasoned GAD consultant and trainer for co-ops, and a GAD role model for co-ops.

Emma holds a doctorate in management. She is a Certified Public Accountant and is a retired professor. She had held leadership and management positions in international and Philippine cooperative organizations (primary, national, regional levels). Alexander “Alex” B. Raquepo – Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao

In 2017, Alex was awarded the “Most Outstanding Cooperative Leader” in the “Gawad Parangal National Leadership Award” of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA). Alex is a “Development Educator (DE)” of the Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU), and an “Accredited Cooperative Trainer” of CDA. Alex has training expertise on various development areas, among which are co-op governance and leadership; co-op credit management; parliamentary procedures; community organizing and mobilization; credit investigation and property appraisal; financial analysis; credit evaluation; loan packaging; bookkeeping; and project/business proposal preparation. Alex is a seasoned GAD consultant and trainer for co-ops, and a GAD role model for co-ops.
