GCRP Directory: Contact your co-op GAD trainers/experts now!

Do you need assistance in mainstreaming gender and development (GAD) in cooperatives? You can now directly contact GAD trainers/experts across the Philippines to help you. Go to the “Gender and Development [GAD] in Co-ops Resource Pool (GCRP)” Directory available here in the website of the GERC Inc.

The GCRP Directory contains the list of “GCRP Fellows” who are GAD trainers/experts responsible in expanding GAD outreach to co-ops; and non-government organizations, government agencies, local government units, and other agencies that support GAD and co-op development. These co-ops and other agencies can communicate directly with the GCRP Fellows in this Directory for the services that they need in relation to GAD mainstreaming, such as, but not limited to, conduct of gender-sensitivity training (GST) and other gender sessions; and sustained technical assistance to co-ops for GAD mainstreaming.

Particularly, as trained GAD trainers for co-ops, the GCRP Fellows can assist co-ops in assessing the progress of their GAD mainstreaming using the “GAD Assessment Tool” for co-ops (the Tool as provided for in Cooperative Development Authority [CDA] Memorandum Circular No. 2017-04).

GCRP Fellows come from co-ops nationwide and had previously attended the trainers' training in the gender equality program and/or the trainers’ training on GAD (levels 1 and 2) that GERC Inc. conducts. Some of the GCRP Fellows are also involved in GERC Inc.’s programs on co-op youth and co-op women entrepreneurs.

Elaine is a retired director of Bicol University’s Center for Gender and Development, and she brings this experience as an additional expertise into her being a GAD trainer for co-ops. She can readily conduct, among other sessions, gender-sensitivity training; basic GAD orientation; and discussion on gender concepts and issues. Elaine can assist co-ops assess the progress of their GAD mainstreaming using the “GAD Assessment Tool” for co-ops.

Corazon “Ka Azon” L. Echano - NCR

Cooperative: Cooperative Union of Taguig and Pateros (COUNTPA), Taguig City

Ka Azon, who holds a doctorate in education, says that she is “retired but not tired” to share her expertise in adult learning strategies. As a GAD trainer for co-ops, Ka Azon can assist co-ops assess the progress of their GAD mainstreaming using the “GAD Assessment Tool” for co-ops. Ka Azon is also a community organizer, textbook writer, and poet.

Our GCRP Fellow in action!

Ka Azon Echano received the "Gender Advocacy Ambassador" award from the Simbayanan ni Maria Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SMMPC), Taguig, in recognition for her years of service in the Co-op as Gender and Development (GAD) Committee Chairperson. She received the award during the "24th General Assembly and Election of Officers" of the SMMPC, on April 24, 2022. Congratulations to our GCRP Fellow Ka Azon!



April John “AJ” Gonzaga - NCR

Cooperative: Avon Independent Managers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (AIM MPC), Mandaluyong City

AJ works in the AIM MPC. He describes himself as a spirited young professional who is dedicated to promoting impartiality, self-sufficiency, and sustainability. He further says that he is a proactive cohort in co-op affairs. Indeed, as a GAD trainer for co-ops, AJ can readily assist them assess the progress of their GAD mainstreaming using the “GAD Assessment Tool” for co-ops. He also has expertise on data analysis and technical writing.

Florentino "Tino" B. Lorenzana - Region 1

Tino became a cooperator and also a GAD advocate in 1995. Tino was among the young GAD advocates earlier mentored by the Asian Women in Co-operative Development Forum (AWCF); National Confederation of Cooperatives (NATCCO); and Northern Luzon Federation of Cooperatives and Development Center (NORLUCEDEC). Working in the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA)-Dagupan City, he is one of the first CDA personnel to have completed levels 1 and 2 of the "Trainers' Training on Gender in Cooperatives” conducted by GERC Inc. Thus Tino is a GAD trainer for co-ops and can assist co-ops assess the progress of their GAD mainstreaming using the “GAD Assessment Tool” for co-ops. He is also an expert on co-op management and co-op regulations.
