GERC Inc. has now made available the web-based “Gender and Development [GAD] Assessment Tool (GAT)” for Philippine co-ops, as provided for in the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA)’s Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 2017-04, the “Tool for Assessing Progress of Gender Equality in Primary Cooperatives as Supplemental to Memorandum Circular 2013-22.” For a minimal fee, co-ops can subscribe to the GAT. The web-based GAT was developed by GERC Inc., in partnership with We Effect. The development was also supported by many co-ops that joined the piloting of the web-based GAT that helped lead to its finalization.

The web-based GAT takes off from the portable document format (PDF) file of the GAT that was distributed to co-ops when MC No. 2017-04 was issued. In 2019, GERC Inc. took the initiative of computerizing the GAT through an Excel version, with additional features such as generating results for analysis until the preparation of a co-op’s GAD plan. Onto the next level, in 2022, GERC Inc. created the web-based GAT. GERC Inc. hosts the domain of the server for the web-based GAT and is responsible for the maintenance and storage of the data, and protection of the data under Republic Act No. 10173, the “Data Privacy Act of 2012.”

The web-based GAT is available to co-ops by subscription for a minimal fee, who will gain these benefits from the usage:
1. BENCHMARKING of co-ops’ self-assessment of their level of GAD awareness and will assist the co-ops in preparing their GAD plan to implement GAD mainstreaming in their organizations

2. MONITORING, that is, assisting the co-ops through their GAD Committee to monitor their progress of GAD mainstreaming

3. EVALUATING, that is, assessing the implementation of GAD mainstreaming to assist the GAD Committee in preparing the GAD plan that will be integrated in the co-ops’ development plan

4. TEAMWORK, as this is encouraged among the co-ops’ GAD Committee and Management, related to GAD mainstreaming in the co-ops that will support efficient co-op operations

The above benefits are just some of the benefits and features of the web-based version of the GAT, to support the development of a relevant and effective GAD plan; and support and sustain the GAD mainstreaming journey in co-ops, leading to even more socioeconomic growth of co-ops.
